It is with great pleasure that we announce our partnership with Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy, a Saturday school run by the St Stithians Foundation to address the gap in teaching that some children experience at other schools in Gauteng.

Mbewu Movement has committed to delivering life skills to the learners once a month. Our curriculum will cover leadership, communication, time management and conflict resolution to name a few.

On Saturday 7 February, we delivered our first “lesson” to over 900 children in grades 10, 11 and 12. To get the learners interested and engaged we did away with the conventional classroom set up and challenged them to an innovative game aimed at teaching leadership and communication. Learners were split into teams of 10 and challenged to build a pyramid using 6 cans and pieces of string and in order to complete the task successfully the team had to pick a leader and listen to each other. There was lots of competition and laughter in the air as each team tried successfully and unsuccessfully to build the pyramid on first attempt. Needless to say it was a lot of fun for all of us and a fantastic way to learn communication skills and the qualities of good leaders and followers.

If you’re interested in participating in our next event on 28 March, please do not hesitate to email us at
