Generations came together, in an intimate setting, to talk about the harsh realities of apartheid and those that face the youth of today.
Ayanda Ballensiefen, co-founder of Mbewu Movement is the grand daughter of Percy Qoboza, The World newspaper Editor that published the iconic picture of the lifeless Hector Peterson on June, 16 1976.
She recalls about meeting mama Winnie: We spoke about my grandfather, how they fought through the struggle together, fond yet chilling memories of their bravery. Most notable was when she said, “political freedom was only half of the battle. South Africa now and has since 1994 struggled to gain economic freedom. Only then, will issues such as poverty, youth unemployment and education be addressed.”
